Neuware - Second Peter warns that some things in Paul's letters are difficult to understand-and that the uninstructed and unstable twist them. But what does that warning actually establish Does every disagreement with a familiar interpretation amount to distortion Which writings constituted 'all' of Paul's letters And what did 'the other Scriptures' mean when Second Peter was composed Twisted Scripture examines these questions through Greek analysis, manuscript evidence, source criticism, canon history, and a focused investigation of Paul's teaching concerning circumcision. This Constitutional Edition distinguishes the historical questions that can be investigated from theological judgments that historical evidence cannot compel. It examines the disputed authorship of Second Peter, the literary relationship between Second Peter and Jude, the development of the Pauline collection, Paul's testimony in his undisputed letters, Luke's portrayal of Paul in Acts, and the gradual recognition of the twenty-seven-book New Testament. The investigation also tests several frequently repeated claims: - Did Paul require circumcision for salvation-and for whom - Why was Titus not compelled to be circumcised while Timothy was circumcised - Does Second Peter identify the complete New Testament canon - Can a charge of 'twisting Paul' be demonstrated rather than merely asserted - What can later apostolic traditions establish about Peter, Paul, and the seventy or seventy-two disciples Rather than treating disagreement as automatic evidence of distortion, Twisted Scripture requires every accusation to identify the disputed text, establish its historical and literary context, disclose the interpretive standard being used, and demonstrate the alleged distortion with evidence.Difficulty is not impossibility. Disagreement is not distortion.…

Second Peter warns that some things in Paul’s letters are difficult to understand—and that the uninstructed and unstable twist them. But what does that warning actually establish? Does every disagreement with a familiar interpretation amount to distortion? Which writings constituted “all” of Paul’s letters? And what did “the other Scriptures” mean when Second Peter was composed?
Twisted Scripture examines these questions through Greek analysis, manuscript evidence, source criticism, canon history, and a focused investigation of Paul’s teaching concerning circumcision.
This Constitutional Edition distinguishes the historical questions that can be investigated from theological judgments that historical evidence cannot compel. It examines the disputed authorship of Second Peter, the literary relationship between Second Peter and Jude, the development of the Pauline collection, Paul’s testimony in his undisputed letters, Luke’s portrayal of Paul in Acts, and the gradual recognition of the twenty-seven-book New Testament.
The investigation also tests several frequently repeated claims:
• Did Paul require circumcision for salvation—and for whom?
• Why was Titus not compelled to be circumcised while Timothy was circumcised?
• Does Second Peter identify the complete New Testament canon?
• Can a charge of “twisting Paul” be demonstrated rather than merely asserted?
• What can later apostolic traditions establish about Peter, Paul, and the seventy or seventy-two disciples?
Rather than treating disagreement as automatic evidence of distortion, Twisted Scripture requires every accusation to identify the disputed text, establish its historical and literary context, disclose the interpretive standard being used, and demonstrate the alleged distortion with evidence.
Difficulty is not impossibility. Disagreement is not distortion.
