For fans of vintage paranormal tales and spiritualist lore, this early 20th-century British collection of true ghost stories offers eerie encounters and supernatural intrigue from the mind of famed mystic Cheiro.

True Ghost Stories is a collection of eerie and mysterious encounters compiled by Cheiro, a famous 19th- and early 20th-century astrologer and palmist. The book presents supposedly true accounts of supernatural experiences that Cheiro either personally witnessed or learned about through credible sources.

These stories include ghost sightings, premonitions, haunted houses, and unexplained phenomena. Each tale is told with a sense of suspense and intrigue, reflecting Cheiro's belief in life beyond death and the power of unseen forces. He combines anecdotal storytelling with spiritualist ideas, suggesting that the boundary between the physical world and the spiritual realm is thinner than most people believe. This classic work remains a fascinating glimpse into early 20th-century spiritualism and the enduring human fascination with the paranormal.

William John Warner (1866 -1936) was popularly known as Cheiro. An Irish astrologer and occultist, Warner took the name Cheiro from cheiromancy, the study of palmistry. He was a prolific writer who wrote many books on fortune-telling. He learned his divination arts in India, studying with his guru Chitpavan Brahmin. He studied palmistry for two years among the Brahman scholars and returned to London where he began to see his clientele. He died a wealthy man in Hollywood, having become the toast of West Coast society for his esoteric wisdom and talents.
