By John Barnard and published in Boston by Edes and Gill. 1761. 38 pp. 7.5” x 4.25”. 12mo. Softcover pamphlet in 19th Century hardcover boards. In fair condition. Front board detached, with rear board mostly loose. One end page at front detached. Ex-library from the Boston Public Library, with light markings and stamping, along with 1855 accession bookplate on front board. Small hole through half title. Loss of original wrappers. Some uneven trimming to pages. General age-related toning to pages, along with periodic foxing and wear. Please see photographs and ask any questions prior to purchasing. An extremely scarce colonial sermon by Marblehead pastor John Barnard (1681-1770). Teaching throughout Massachusetts and abroad as an army chaplain, he had been preaching in Marblehead since around 1714.
