Print on Demand. This book, originally a series of lectures, provides a detailed narrative of the history and development of the Church of England from its origins in the British Church to the modern era. The author, a Reverend, asserts that the Church of England is an integral branch of the Church Catholic, with its roots in the teachings of the Apostles themselves. The book explores the idea that the Church was established by the Apostles, its independence from the Church of Rome, and its embodiment of the beliefs and practices of the early Church. Through the use of evidence from historical documents and monuments, the author argues against popular misconceptions of the Church of England's origins and validity. The book concludes by emphasizing the Church of England's significance and role in maintaining Catholic unity and preserving the teachings of Christ. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

The book, A Treatise on the Relations of the Church, Rome and Dissent, analyzes the British church’s ancient foundations, its links to Rome, and the rise of dissent. It draws on early sources and historical records to frame how church authority, ministry, and the right to administer sacraments have been argued and contested over centuries. The aim is to help readers understand why the Church of England and its relationships have mattered to devout Christians through the ages.
Across chapters, readers will encounter a rigorous look at how the primitive church established its authority, how apostolic succession is claimed, and how later movements questioned or redefined church ties. The author also contrasts Wesleyan ideas with wider dissent, highlighting debates over church membership, sacraments, and ministry. The work combines biography, tradition, and critical commentary to shed light on these enduring questions.
- How the British church traces its origins and its ties to apostolic authority
- Debates about forming a church, ministry, and the administration of sacraments
- How dissent and reform movements have influenced church structure and unity
- Critical discussion of infallibility, authority, and the nature of church governance
Ideal for readers of church history, Anglican studies, and religious scholarship who want a clear, historically grounded view of church relationships and reform movements.

Reseña del editor
Tax current notions of popular religion are ominous of evil to our ancient Apostolic Church. This fact drew my attention some years ago to the necessity of instructing our youth in the history, the facts, the principles and the work ing of our Church.
There are certain favorite and popular fallacies which are stereotyped upon the public mind, and to a considerable extent upon the thinking habits of churchmen themselves i. E., that the Church of England is an off-shoot of the Church of Rome that she originated at the great Reform ation, and is the creature of Henry the VIII; and that con sequently, she is simply a sect among sects, being only one of the so called all denominations thus despoiling her of her Apostolic origin, her Catholic character, her true suc cession, and her continued identity and authority. T is also a prevailing error, that it is a matter of indifference to What denomination a man belongs, provided he is a good christian.
