Transformative Learning in Action: Insights from Practice (J-B ACE Single Issue Adult & Continuing Education)

This volume offers nine first-hand accounts of transformative learning theory in practice, illuminating the rational, practical, intuitive, and emotional routes adults use to understand and change their values and perspectives in order to learn. The authors interpret the original theory in new and exciting ways; they present it not only as a rational process of critical reflection but also as an extrarational or intuitive process of discernment and learning through soulwork. Adult educators from diverse settings and contexts describe how the transformative learning approach changed the perspectives of students in a French class, helped an author overcome writer's block, rebuilt faltering self-images in a workforce training class, and more.
