As Heinrich Himmler's adjutant and direct representative to Adolf Hitler Karl Wolff stood at the top of the infamous Nazi hierarchy. Involved in some of the most gruesome Nazi misdeeds Wolff was promoted a general and then SS and Police chief in Italy in 1943-1945 when Hitler ordered him to kidnap Pope Pius XII. Wolff also negotiated the secret surrender with Alan Dulles in 'Operation Sunrise'. Translated from the German.
