Three families. Two regions. One unstoppable destiny.
Italy, 1920s. A land of ancient traditions, breathtaking landscapes, and the long shadows of a changing era. Threads of Destiny is a sweeping family saga that traces the humble beginnings of three lineages whose paths are destined to intertwine in a grand mosaic of life, love, and resilience.
In the heart of Umbria, Luigi and Elvira fight against the "mud" of a grueling rural life. In the small village of Ficulle, they raise their children with the strength of those who know that family is the only true shelter against the winds of history.
In the vibrant soul of Sicily, two stories take root:
-
Michele Merandino, a master carpenter with a proud heart, who turns a scandalous town dance into a legendary promise of love, building a future with his own hands under the red brick arches of Caltanissetta.
-
Agostino and Giuseppina, who defy tradition to build a "refuge of love" by the sea in Termini Imerese. From the darkness of the sulfur mines to the scent of fresh wood, Agostino’s journey is one of sacrifice and unyielding hope for his seven children.
As the shadow of the Second World War looms over Europe in 1939, these three families—separated by hundreds of miles—do not yet know they are branches of the same tree.
Rich in historical detail and emotional depth, Promises in the Mud is a tribute to the "just men" and resilient women of the past. It is a story of salt and sweat, of sacred silences at the dinner table, and of the courage to dream when the world begins to tremble.
Experience the beginning of an epic journey. Experience the Italian soul.
