Sitwell, Great Flower Books, p.118. Thomas Martyn (1735-1825) was Professor of Botany at the University of Cambridge. He was an early adopter of the Linnaean system and gave a course of lectures on it in 1763. Martyn also translated Rousseau's Letters on the Elements of Botany (1785). The artist, F. P.
