The Thames Tunnel Open to the Public Daily (except Sunday), from nine in the morning until 6, P.M. Admittance 1s each. Entrance is on the Surrey side of the River, close to Rotherhithe Church and the Tunnel is brilliantly lighted with Gas.

Single sheet, 385 x 245 mm. trimmed close to text, no imprint. An attractive broadsheet advertising public visits to the first tunnel under the Thames built by Brunel using his revolutionary tunnel shield. Originally designed as a passage for carriages it was never used for this purpose and in 1865 was purchased for use a rail tunnel. The charge to visitors was an attempt to defray some of the costs of construction. A number of these advertising broadsheets were issued at this time; this one uses the same woodcuts as one issued by Teape and Son in 1837. N° de ref. del artículo 43271
