Ranneys book provides clear, easy-to-follow mini-lessons and tips that will benefit players of any level, said Billie Jean King, a six-time Wimbledon singles champion. Tennis: Play the Mental Game discusses four core principles: consciousness, focus, breathing and judgment. It also offers 28 lessons on mental concepts, 11 lessons on strategy and seven lessons on strokes and other subjects, plus 14 tennis terrific drills, two quizzes, and some tennis strategy you won't find anywhere else.

Acerca del autor
David started playing tournaments when he was 10 years old. He became a nationally ranked player as a junior, played on the USC tennis team (they were National Champions during the 3 years he lettered Varsity), played on the Junior Davis Cup team, and when he was 17 years old he represented the U.S. at Junior Wimbledon where he lost in the Semi-Finals to the Russian player. However, as good as he was, David used to yell and scream on the tennis court. He couldn't ever seem to win matches against players that were higher ranked. He never felt that in important matches he played well enough to win. He got really frustrated and angry with himself and he didn't know how to stop. Then one day (he was in his 30's), David was reading the LA Magazine about an instructor who was teaching the Inner Game. His name was Tim Gallwey. He knew that he had to have a lesson from him and he was determined to go to the ends of the earth to find him. It turned out that Tim Gallwey was right there in Los Angeles. To make a long story short, after taking one lesson, that experience changed Davids life forever and set him on the path of playing the mental game. However, as good as I was, I used to yell and scream (at times) on the tennis court. I couldn't ever seem to win matches against players that were higher ranked. I never felt that in important matches I played well enough to win. I got really frustrated and angry with myself and I didn't know how to stop. Then one day (I was in my 30's), I was reading the LA Magazine about an instructor who was teaching the Inner Game. To make a long story short, I took a lesson from him and he completely changed my life as a player and as a teacher.
