The Temperance movement was one of the most influential social movements of the 19th century, advocating for the restriction or abolition of alcohol consumption in the name of public health and morality. This Bible commentary by Dawson Burns and Frederic Richard Lees is a comprehensive study of the biblical references to alcohol, including its positive and negative aspects, its use in religious rituals, and its effects on individuals and society. The book provides a valuable historical perspective on the Temperance movement and its religious, moral, and political motivations.
