Step into the cards and discover tarot as a living journey of insight, creativity, and transformation.
Tarot Trance Inspirational Questions by Brian David Phillips invites readers to experience tarot as a living, transformative practice rather than a system for predicting the future. Instead of reading cards as fixed symbols, Phillips introduces Tarot Trance, a method that blends hypnosis, guided meditation, Jungian active imagination, and much more. Each card becomes a portal into imagery, sensation, and story, offering opportunities for healing, self-discovery, and creative growth. The practice unfolds in five phases. It begins with shaping a focused question that directs attention toward insight and agency. The chosen card is then used as the center of a hypnotic induction, drawing the reader into its imagery. From there, practitioners enter the card’s world with full sensory imagination, stepping into its archetypal drama. This immersion continues with somatic dialogue—asking questions and listening to the body’s intuitive responses. Experiences are grounded through integration rituals such as journaling, drawing, or symbolic objects that carry the insight into daily life.
The book also explores the roots of Tarot Trance. Phillips traces tarot’s development from Renaissance origins to modern psychology, showing how Jung’s ideas on archetypes and hypnosis inform his approach. This context frames tarot not as prediction but as a stage for engaging the unconscious and fostering transformation.
A central feature of the book is its extensive catalog of inspirational questions. Organized around themes such as creativity, health, wealth, relationships, spirituality, and sexuality, these prompts replace fortune-telling queries with meaningful invitations. Instead of asking “What will happen?” readers are guided to ask “How can I strengthen trust?” or “What hidden gifts want expression?” Each question becomes a bridge between personal intention and the imagery of the cards through experiential trance.
Flexibility is emphasized throughout. Tarot Trance can be adapted for solo practice, group work, seasonal rituals, or multi-card journeys. Ethical considerations are woven in as well, encouraging responsible use and respect for personal boundaries.
Phillips’s writing balances scholarship with accessibility. He offers both theoretical grounding and step-by-step guidance while keeping the focus on lived experience. The result is a book that works as a practical manual and a thoughtful exploration of tarot as a tool for transformation.
For anyone seeking to deepen their connection with tarot, Tarot Trance Inspirational Questions provides not predictions but pathways - ways to step into the cards, encounter their archetypes, and return with insight, creativity, and renewed awareness.

Descripción de la tienda
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
