Off Target is the recipient of the Silver Mom’s Choice Award
--Jill Ammon Vanderwood’s interactive social issues book for young adults and preteens, Off Target: The Path You Choose #1, is a stark and realistic workbook designed to help kids figure out what to do when the unthinkable occurs. … Kerah Diez and Trevor Brown’s graphic illustrations are dynamic and direct, making the reader feel even more a part of this interactive book. This book may save lives -- it’s that good. Off Target: The Path You Choose #1 is most highly recommended. Jack Magnus for Reader’s Favorite
…this is an accomplished work which is socially conscious and also interesting for middle grade students and up to read. I feel that Off Target is best suited as a morality work that could be read in groups at school, with parents, or in youth groups to explore the different possibilities of the choices before readers select the page to turn. K.C. Finn
Off Target: The Path You Choose #1—which asks the question: What would you do if someone showed you a loaded gun?
**This book is written for a preteen to younger teen audience. Off Target is recommended for grades 5-8.**
What would you do if your friend showed you a loaded gun?
- You are new in town and it’s your first day at a new school. Your neighbor, Trevor, introduces you to a group of three boys and two girls.
- Right away, you notice that Eric, one of the guys, is being bullied by kids at school.
-
When you go to Eric’s house with your new friends, he shows the group a fully loaded handgun that his mother left in her nightstand.
- You, the reader, are faced with some hard choices when someone suggests that Eric should take the gun to school.
- What should you do? It’s time to choose a path:
- If you’re worried that Eric will take the gun to school—continue on page 7.
- If you decide to take the gun to prevent anyone from being hurt—continue on page 9.
- If you leave the house with the others and plan to come back for target practice the next day—continue on page 10.
-
Off Target is the first book in The Path You Choose series. You, the reader, determine the outcome by the choices you make. Once you read one story, go back and choose a different story. There are thirteen possible endings in this book. What path will you choose?

Descripción de la tienda
We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first visit or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
