A gentle, kid-friendly story about staying safe, healthy, and kind during a pandemic.
What is a pandemic? Why do we wash our hands more, why do some people wear masks, or give each other extra space? Most importantly, how can kids still have fun, connect with friends, and feel safe when life feels different?
Let’s Take Care of Each Other! During a Pandemic answers these questions in a warm, reassuring way for children ages 3–10. Through simple text and playful illustrations, this story helps kids understand healthy habits and the importance of kindness—without fear.
Meet Breyhanna, Bailey, Elijah, and Jackson—four friends who show that even during a pandemic, children can be helpers. They:
-
Wash their hands and keep germs away (Scrub, scrub, scrub!)
-
Some wear masks at school and still play together
-
Give each other space in line (and sometimes it even solves little problems, like Elijah tugging Breyhanna’s braid!)
-
Cover coughs and sneezes, use tissues, and wash up again
-
Stay busy at home with creative activities like reading, drawing, and video calls with friends
-
Talk about their feelings with parents, teachers, and loved ones
- Look forward with hope to when everything will feel normal again
This cheerful book reassures children that pandemics are nothing to fear when we take care of ourselves and each other. Bright illustrations balance health lessons with moments of fun, humor, and friendship. The story also highlights emotional well-being, showing that sharing feelings and practicing kindness are just as important as healthy habits.
Perfect for families, classrooms, and libraries, this book is both a story and a gentle teaching tool. Parents and educators will appreciate the supportive back matter with Tips for Parents, Caregivers, and Educators, offering guidance on how to explain pandemics in simple language, model healthy habits, create routines, and encourage kindness.
Whether read at home, shared in a classroom, or gifted to a child, Let’s Take Care of Each Other! During a Pandemic provides comfort, encouragement, and empowerment. It reminds kids that they are never alone—and that small actions can make a big difference.
