Imperial quarto, viii + pp155 complete with 15 full page colour plates of the species by Lilian Snelling with other b/w drawings by Lilian Snelling and Stella Ross-Craig throughout. Hardcover no dust jacket. Publishers binding of blue cloth with gilt titles to front board and spine in very good condition with a little fading to gilt on spine, a small mark to back board and a little bumping to bottom tips of boards. Inside, except for the odd fingermark and smudge, all pages with top edge gilt in excellent clean and bright condition. A very nice copy of this systematic monograph of the genus also called "the King of Flowers" and "the King's Ministers" as the Mountain and herbaceous Paeonies are called by the Chinese. For added interest inserted is a 6pp pamphlet on the geographical distribution of the Genus Paeonia by F.C. Stern from the proceedings of the general meeting of The Royal Horticultural Society 1943. this is a large book and may cost more postage overseas. N° de ref. del artículo 001501
