The Story in the Stars (Paperback or Softback)

American Christian Fiction Writers Carol Award (Speculative Fiction) Finalist, 2012

Dassa skates toward the palace in completion of her Third Quest, unaware the Karkar Plague has returned to ravage Gannah.

On a medical starship not far away, Dr. Pik is ordered to find a cure for the plague – an unlikely assignment, given his inbred hatred of the whole Gannahan race. Duty trumps prejudice, however, and he succeeds… but that’s just the beginning of the story.

Dassa and Pik survive attack by space pirates, food poisoning, savage Gannahan beasts, and a plane crash. The hardest part, though, is enduring one another’s company.

The Creator who wrote the story of redemption in the stars has commanded her to share it with her reluctant savior. That’s not all He requires of her, but the rest is unthinkable.

"What Anderson has pulled off in "The Story in the Stars" is nothing less than astounding. Not only was I pulled into the story and interested in the fate of Dassa, I didn't constantly scoff and roll my eyes at the religious aspect because the author joins her topics logically." (Amazon reviewer)

"This book is clearly a winner from beginning to end. I had the joy of completing it in just a few nights of reading and was enthralled from start to finish." (Amazon reviewer)

"Definitely not your usual 'SciFi' novel! Forget any expectations or preconceived notions about what to expect when reading 'The Story in the Stars'. Just forget them because you will be totally blown away by this incredible epic tale! It’s not often that I am this impressed with an author (especially a debut!) but Ms. Anderson is insanely talented and it shines through in her writing. The world building was magnificent, and I felt like I could picture every scene and character perfectly. I thought the pacing was spot on, and I was hooked from start to finish. This book definitely has a Christian theme and message so if that’s not your thing than this might not be the best book for you. But for everyone else it is a definite MUST READ. (5 stars)."  (Independent reviewer)

"The writing is first-rate, the characters well-drawn and fleshed out, the imagery so vivid, I feel like I've been to Gannah." (Amazon reviewer)

"This book is suitable for most readers. There is no sexual content or language. There are a few fight scenes, but in general these are very mild and do not take up a large portion of the book.

An excellent story that leaves you turning the pages so fast you’ll get a paper cut. A satisfying conclusion, but in the end, the reader will be looking for a sequel – not because the story is unfinished, but because they are wanting more." (Entrada reviewer)

"The Story of the Stars has a vast plot yet still focuses on the inner feelings of the characters. The imagery and characters pull you in so well that you get lost in the story. Every character has depth. How in the world did Ms. Anderson manage to make a character from another world encourage me in my faith? I can't wait to read the rest of the series." (Amazon reviewer)

"I absolutely loved all the mythology and creativeness that the author put into inventing this marvelous Christian fantasy/sci-fi book. All too often I read works that feel clearly derivative of other books, and although I appreciate literary influences, when something truly original comes along it is a refreshing change of pace! Some of the writing was downright lyrical in the simple elegance of the prose, and I was mesmerized by the world of Gannah and its characters, especially Dassa. I liked the author’s take on the religious influences and how it shaped the course of the story. Definitely recommend for fans of Christian fiction, Young adult books, and of course Science Fiction fans. (5 stars)." (Independent reviewer)
