In the quiet seaside town of Thimblewick Bay, gossip travels faster than a seagull on a storm wind - and nothing escapes the sharp eye of Marnie Swift, local embroidery shop owner and proud collector of grudges, teapots, and vintage needlework patterns.
When a customer donates an antique quilt to Marnie’s shop, it seems like just another piece of charming clutter. But stitched into its fabric is a cryptic pattern - a series of coded symbols that appear to mirror a series of mysterious deaths from the town’s past. When a beloved local baker turns up dead under suspicious circumstances, Marnie can’t help but wonder: is someone using the quilt’s pattern as a blueprint for murder?
Despite her best intentions to stay uninvolved ("I run a shop, not a sleuthing society!"), Marnie finds herself knee-deep in local secrets, long-held rivalries, and enough red herrings to knit a sweater. With the reluctant help of Thimblewick’s introverted librarian and a surprisingly tech-savvy teenager, she’ll have to follow the thread of clues before another stitch in the pattern is sewn - this time, in her own name.
Full of cozy charm, clever puzzles, and small-town sass, A Stitch in Crime is the first in the Thread & Dead Mystery Series, perfect for fans of crafts, cats, and crimes that don’t require a strong stomach. Marnie Swift is no Miss Marple - she’s sharper, saltier, and twice as likely to tell you off with a smile.
In Thimblewick Bay, secrets are stitched tight... but nothing stays buried forever.

Acerca del autor
Maisie Thorne is a mid-career author known for her charming cozy mysteries with a touch of historical intrigue. Her novels are celebrated for their strong female leads, atmospheric settings, and intricate plots. Before turning to fiction writing, Maisie worked as a history teacher and continues to draw inspiration from her love of the past and her deep appreciation for small-town life. She lives in Willowbrook, Vermont, with her watchmaker husband, their opinionated tabby cat Thistle, and a vast collection of antique clocks.
Her previous novel, A Stitch in Crime, follows seaside embroiderer Marnie Swift as she unravels the chilling secrets hidden in an antique quilt mysteriously linked to unsolved disappearances in the town's haunted past. Her next book, Murder in the Moonflower Garden, introduces herbalist Addie Green, who must decode a cryptic will and uncover the truth behind her mentor's suspicious death in a garden teeming with deadly secrets and botanical intrigue.
Whether set in sleepy villages or shadowed flowerbeds, Maisie's novels reveal that no town is too quaint for a good mystery-and no heroine too ordinary to solve it.

Descripción de la tienda
**Please note our transit times are from the date of dispatch.** We first started out as “The Paperback Exchange,” a chain of physical bookstores where we would part exchange your beloved books for new stories to transport you to faraway places. However, as shopping started to evolve to online shops and marketplaces, we bid our stores goodbye to become “PBShop.” This transition has only allowed us to blossom as we now ship thousands of titles to book lovers across the globe. We pride ourselves in being a community of local book lovers which allows our passion and devotion to shine in everything we do. In 2020 we not only celebrated our 20th birthday but our 1st birthday as being completely employee owned after becoming an E.O.T in September 2019. We are proud to be different and embrace standing apart on a book mountain by working from a virtual inventory which allows us to provide thousands of books that may be difficult to get for your bookshelf or your studies. Working with a number of different suppliers allows us to explore other avenues such as puzzles, sheet music and even stationery so we really do have something for everyone. Life is about being versatile in all realms of existence. If this is your first purchase with us, or you are a returning customer, we would like to welcome you to the PBShop family, for there is no friend as loyal as a book. We are a company who put our customers at the centre of everything we do as we understand the importance of reading because once you learn to read, you will forever be free. There are a whole lot of things in this world of ours that we are yet to explore, which is why we will forever inspire curious minds.…
