Everybody needs to understand statistics. Statistics isn't just mathematics, it's inductive reasoning with numbers. It's essential for everyday life. Stats with Kittens explains the fundamentals.

Stats with Kittens is meant to help readers understand statistics well enough to avoid misleading data analyses and the media articles about them. It describes the many ways in which they can be misleading and shows how to identify those issues so you become an informed consumer of statistics. It is not a textbook. It has kittens.

Stats with Kittens explains why students are often required to take an introductory course in statistics. It explains why statistics is more integral to modern society than most any other mathematical discipline. It explains statistical jargon, those special words, repurposed English words, and eponyms that are so confusing. And, the book does this with metaphors and analogies, real-life examples, and step-by-step approaches to evaluating statistical analyses and presentations.

Stats with Kittens consists of nine chapters covering traditional topics of probability, descriptive statistics, graphing, hypothesis testing, and regression, all in unique and interesting ways. It also covers topics taught less often, including surveys, modeling, causality, critical thinking, and bad science.

In its 524 pages, Stats with Kittens contains 75 technical figures, 41 tables, and over 500 pictures of kittens. It has a Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level readability of 11.5, suitable for High School aged readers and above. It also has a Glossary of over a thousand definitions to facilitate understanding.

And the kittens? They provide emotional support for people who experience math anxiety. When the statistics become too intense, there'll be a picture of a kitten nearby to restore calm. They are your guides to data, charts, surveys, correlations, and other floofy playthings.

Stats with Kittens is a valuable resource for students, professionals, and everyone in between. It provides help for comprehending the data-driven analytics you encounter in sports, social media, the news, and most anything you follow in life. It is an asset for those looking to expand their knowledge of the world. And, it makes a great gift. Come for the kittens; stay for the stats.
