Print on Demand. This is a sweeping and vivid tale of two young people in love - a Greek boy and a Neapolitan girl - living in Pompeii just before the catastrophic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius. Set against the backdrop of the Roman Empire in the first century, when society was corrupt and brutal, the author explores themes of slavery, oppression, and religious fanaticism. The book is the first novel of its kind to introduce a modern sensibility to a classical setting, and despite being written almost two centuries ago, it still resonates with today's readers. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.
