Soldiers Three and Five other Railway Stories, Rudyard Kipling, Private Binding A private binding of six of Kipling's "Railway Stories", named as such as they were written, in the 1880s, for sale across the Indian Railway network. Hugely successful at the time they each ran to many editions with the early ones now particularly scarce. This binding contains :- Under The Deodars, No.4., 2nd Edition The Phantom Rickshaw, No.5., 3rd Edition The City of Dreadful Night, No.14., Edition not specified Wee Willie Winkie, No.6., Edition not specified In Black and White, No.3., Edition not specified Soldiers Three, No.1., 4th Edition The original wrappers are also bound in with the exception of the front of Wee Willie Winkie. The contemporary binding (1880/90s) is straight and tight, the boards clean and still bright with a couple of marks and a little wear at the extremes, and the endpapers and pages are clean without significant marks, tears or inscriptions. The wrappers were not of the greatest quality paper and frequently are not found with these bindings. Will be dispatched carefully wrapped in bubblewrap and a cardboard box.
