NOTE: POSTAGE DOMESTIC, $6.50 VIA PRIORITY MAIL; FOREIGN $15.00. From September 1, 2006 to Sept. 30, 2007, the MIT Museum, and from April 30 to September 12, 2009 the Linda Hall Library (Kansas City), showcased the exquisite beauty of the simple microscope, the portable single-lens instruments that rose to prominence in the 17th century with the epochal work of Leeuwenhoek. The most comprehensive exhibition of the instrument by an American museum and library, it featured 127 simple microscopes from the private collection of Raymond V. Giordano. A very useful, descriptive catalogue, which includes historical background and bibliographic data, is illustrated with over 120 full color photographs. Singular Beauty is printed on 64 pages of high quality paper in an 8 x 8 inch format. The catalogue contains introductions by Deborah G. Douglas, Curator of Science and Technology at the MIT Museum, and by Raymond V. Giordano, and an essay on the subject by the noted scholar of scientific instruments, Anthony J. Turner. The collection is now owned by the Confluence Museum in Lyon (France). N° de ref. de la librería 000532
