[From Introduction] The Pacific Ocean keeps getting smaller; physically and technologically. The body of water that encompasses almost half the world is in a fine pickle. Within this time frame, not too many of us alive would consider this untimely or catastrophic. The timely cause for concern is man?s technology. Sixty million square miles of water, averaging one mile in depth, would appear to almost everyone to be an inexhaustible ?source for man to reap?? for as long and as much as he would need. It is not. Twenty-seven responded. Their opinions and statistics follow. Contents include: Artist conception of thresher shark, albacore, salmon and swordfish by Jeffrey H. Earle; Thresher Shark; Albacore; Salmon; Swordfish; The Law of the Sea; News Reports on High Seas Drift Netting; News Reports; Summary; About the Author; Requiem for the Felucca.…
