Color-illustrated card wraps with white lettering on black spine. 597 pp. with color and bw images throughout, numbered by chapter. Heavy and may require extra shipping. Text in Italian. Catalogue from the exhibition held November 2005 to March 2006 in Siena."Siena and Rome are linked by a continuous interweaving of culture, politics, religion, and art, from antiquity to the Middle Ages to the Renaissance. The focus is on two great art patrons/collectors of Siena, Agostino Chigi (who entrusted Raphael with the decoration of many important Sienese buildings) and Giulio Mancini (who collected works by Caravaggio and Carracci), who maintained very close relations with Sienese artists active in both Siena and Rome. With 12 essays/sections by various scholars. Includes appendices. A beautiful book. NF throughout but for marks on bottom of page edges from shelf sliding. …
