Paperback. The Shimmer: A Cozy Midlife Fantasy Romance of Magic, Second Chances, and Finding Your PowerShe notices her reflection in the dark window: haggard, gray-faced, silver streaks she hasn't had time to dye. Strange shimmer in the air around her hands when she's particularly stressed-she dismisses it as exhaustion. But magic doesn't care if you're too tired, too old, or too burned out to believe. At 42, Mira Thornwell is drowning in corporate burnout when her body finally forces her to stop. A medical crisis, a lost job, and an unexpected inheritance lead her to a village where magic thrums through the air and people actually smile. As Mira studies under the demanding tutelage of the formidable witch Elspeth, she discovers that learning magic is the easy part. The real challenge? Learning that she's worthy of happiness, that "no" is a complete sentence, and that it's never too late to choose yourself. But old patterns die hard. When Mira's past comes calling and her magic spirals dangerously out of control, she must face the truth: you can't heal by running.
