Abraham Benson should have died in the desert.
Shot, betrayed, and abandoned beneath the merciless Arizona sun, the wealthy mine owner has no water, little blood left to lose, and almost no chance of surviving.
Then an Apache spirit appears out of the shimmering heat.
His message is simple:
Follow the rattlesnake.
Reason tells Abraham the old man is a hallucination. Desperation tells him otherwise. With his killers still hunting him, Abraham follows the serpent deeper into a desert that seems determined to either save him-or claim him.
But survival is only the beginning.
Someone paid to have Abraham Benson murdered. Someone close enough to know where he would be and when. And if the desert allows him to return, Abraham intends to discover who betrayed him.
What begins as one man's struggle to stay alive becomes a journey through treachery, vengeance, and the inexplicable bond between a dying man and the ancient power that has chosen to guide him.
The Serpent's Promise is a supernatural Western tale of betrayal, survival, and the unsettling possibility that some debts are remembered by things far older than men.

Acerca del autor
Roger left the southern mountains of West Virginia and joined the Air Force during the Viet Nam era. He traveled extensively, but his heart remained in the south. His writings reflect the southern attitude from those years ago.
After receiving an MBA in International Business, Roger worked for many years in the corporate world. He is an adjunct business instructor for a local university and a fulltime author and artist. His stories usually have backgrounds and characters that exist in a simpler time. No cell phones or other electronics distract his characters from experiencing the full adventure of just living.
