- Libro 1 de 2: Read Em and Weep
Battle. Action. 2000AD. Misty. The British Comics Revolution!
Read Em And Weep is the fictional saga of the Revolution that changed readers’ lives. Based on the real-life comics and their creators, it’s the story of Blitzkrieg! (Battle), Aaagh! (Action), Space Warp (2000 AD starring Judge Dredd), and Raven (Misty) told over four novels starting with… Serial Killer.
It follows the fortunes of Dave, Greg and Joy – the young creators who spearheaded the Revolution – producing fiercely anti-establishment and wildly futuristic comics as they endlessly fight, rival and betray each other.
The saga starts with a depressed Dave working on the pre-Revolution Spanker: on stories like The Caning Commando, so ridiculous they are laugh-out-loud hilarious today. And girls’ serials like the wolf girl Feral Meryl, with mysterious emotions far beyond his shallow understanding of the opposite sex.
Because Dave is emotionally shut down, thanks to the evil newsagent who made his childhood a misery, and his mother’s unexplained disappearance. He hates his life, and he hates his readers.
But then a chain of events as fantastic as his comic stories transforms Dave from a bitter and twisted editor into a defender of kids, disposing of the adults who harm them as he becomes a real-life… Serial Killer.
The 1970s – a dangerous time for kids. An even more dangerous time for adults

“Any fan of British comics or satire should buy this book.”

“Apart from the disguised history of 70's British comics, you get a bizarre murder mystery and some brilliantly realised characters with some very strange peccadilloes. All the dark humour evident in Marshal Law and Nemesis the Warlock is here in spades.”

“However you define this book - comedy, period drama, thriller, expose - it's most definitely a page turner which I couldn't put down.”

"Buy this book. I guarantee that once you finish it you will be aching for the sequel."

"What starts as a grotesque parody of the early days of the comic industry in this country slowly settles into a black comedy hybrid of American Psycho, Kill Your Friends and Black Books."

"Once Pat gets his hook into you, you have to keep reading."
