Paperback. Four people, each living a life that makes sense-until it doesn't.When the past begins to press against the present in unexpected ways, they are forced to confront what they have spent years avoiding. Philip Hayes has built a life of order and independence, keeping others at a distance. Anika Sharma has learned to depend on recognition from those around her. David Mercer believes that precision and control can impose meaning on loss. Keiko Tanaka carries a burden she has never been able to fully confront. Each has created a life that works-structured, purposeful, and defensible. Yet beneath that structure lies something unresolved. When a crisis unsettles their carefully maintained worlds, buried patterns begin to surface. In dreams that feel both personal and unfamiliar, they are drawn toward moments in their past that continue to shape their present. The Archive-where memory endures beyond a single life-offers no simple answers. Only the possibility of seeing clearly what has long been obscured. What follows is not dramatic transformation, but something quieter and more demanding: the recognition of who they have been, and the question of whether they are willing to change. This item is printed on demand. Shipping may be from multiple locations in the US or from the UK, depending on stock availability.…

When the past begins to press against the present in unexpected ways, they are forced to confront what they have spent years avoiding.
Philip Hayes has built a life of order and independence, keeping others at a distance. Anika Sharma has learned to depend on recognition from those around her. David Mercer believes that precision and control can impose meaning on loss. Keiko Tanaka carries a burden she has never been able to fully confront.
Each has created a life that works—structured, purposeful, and defensible. Yet beneath that structure lies something unresolved.
When a crisis unsettles their carefully maintained worlds, buried patterns begin to surface. In dreams that feel both personal and unfamiliar, they are drawn toward moments in their past that continue to shape their present.
The Archive—where memory endures beyond a single life—offers no simple answers. Only the possibility of seeing clearly what has long been obscured.
What follows is not dramatic transformation, but something quieter and more demanding: the recognition of who they have been, and the question of whether they are willing to change.
