One of 101 titles in the St. Joseph Picture Book Series, this book by beloved author Rev. Lawrence G. Lovasik, S.V.D. teaches children about the seven Sacraments in simple, easily understandable language. The Sacraments are actions of God through which He shows us the love He has for us, His sons and daughters. All of the Sacraments have been created (instituted) by Him, and that is why it is Jesus who performs them through different means and through the ordained minister. Sacraments are a tangible way that God expresses this grace for us. They are a sign of Jesus' presence in our lives

Why did He God give The Sacraments to us? He wanted to give us grace along with His love, which is the necessary strength to fight against and through the difficulties of life. From Baptism to Confirmation to Marriage to the Anointing of the Sick, God and His Church desires to be with us during every stage of our development. Of course, that is, if we have a positive disposition and attitude that desires to please God. The celebration of the Eucharist is the 'source and summit' of our Catholic worship and the celebration is rooted in Sacred Scripture when Jesus says, "Take this, all of you, and eat of it, for this is My Body, which will be given up for you." Children will enjoy the colorful pictures included for each Sacrament, and adults may be reacquainted with the Sacraments as they share the Good News of Jesus' love as parents and grandparents, aunts and uncles. The Sacraments is a perfect gift for young Catholics who are making their First Communion, and a beautiful introduction to God's love and grace.
