ROOM 14
The door was locked from the inside. The woman inside was dead. And someone wanted Detective Evelyn Shaw to remember. why?
When homicide detective Evelyn Shaw is called to the Ashford Hotel, she expects another murder scene.
Instead, she finds an impossible one.
Claire Mercer is dead inside Room 1408. The deadbolt is engaged from the inside. The windows are locked. There is no balcony, no obvious entrance, and no apparent way for the killer to have left.
Then Evelyn sees the message written across the bathroom mirror:
YOU PROMISED YOU WOULDN’T FORGET ME.
The name Claire Mercer should mean nothing to her.
But an old photograph found among Claire’s belongings changes everything. It shows Evelyn years younger, standing beside Claire and another girl—Sarah Vale, a sixteen-year-old who disappeared in 2010 and whose case was never truly solved.
As Evelyn digs into the forgotten investigation, old police statements begin contradicting one another. Records have been altered. Evidence has vanished. A crucial emergency call contains forty-seven missing seconds.
And then someone sends Evelyn a photograph that proves she was there the night Sarah disappeared.
The deeper she goes, the more the case stops looking like a murder investigation and starts looking like something Claire deliberately built for her.
Someone has spent sixteen years making sure the truth stayed buried.
Now Evelyn has to uncover it before the person who killed Claire gets to her first.
Because Room 1408 was never just a crime scene.
It was a message.
And Evelyn has finally remembered how to read it.
ROOM 14 is a psychological crime thriller about memory, buried evidence, police corruption, and the dangerous consequences of discovering a truth someone has spent years trying to erase.
