S.l.n.a. (Venecia, 1647). En 8º (145 x 100)mm. 206 pp. Encuadernación en pergamino del siglo dieciocho. Rarísima primera edición, publicada sin indicaciones tipográficas, de la famosa relación de Giraffi sobre la revolución de Nápoles y los disturbios liderados por Masaniello en 1647, con una descripción de la ciudad y un informe detallado, día a día, de los sucesos ocurridos durante las dos semanas que duraron los tumultos. El desgobierno y la opresión fiscal habían despertado el descontento en Sicilia provocando el estallido de una rebelión en Palermo en mayo de 1647. Los habitantes de Nápoles siguieron el ejemplo de los sicilianos. Masaniello, sobrenombre de Tommaso Aniello d'Amalfi, fue el revolucionario napolitano que se convirtió en el cabecilla de la rebelión napolitana entre el 7 y 16 de julio de 1647 en la cual el pueblo se rebeló contra las cargas impositivas impuestas por el virreinato español. La revuelta de Masaniello fue inicialmente una protesta contra la carestía de alimentos y la alta presión fiscal debida a las necesidades bélicas. De hecho el grito de la revolución fue Viva el rey [de Nápoles y España] y muera el mal gobierno. Masaniello además declaró varias veces su fidelidad al rey Felipe IV de España. Pero la sublevación «.que empezó siendo un motín de hambre tomó un tinte político favorecido por algunos elementos de la intelectualidad y las clases medias y pronto se deslizó en el plano social» ?tomando un carácter antifeudal y antiespañol.
