Paperback. The Return to the Blueprint: Apostolic Order, Righteous Governance, and the Future of the Church is a call for the Church to rediscover the pattern established by Jesus Christ and carried forward by His apostles. In an age of increasing confusion over spiritual authority, church government, ministry structure, accountability, and leadership, The Most Rev. Ricky J. Phillips, Ph.D. challenges believers and leaders to examine whether the modern Church still reflects its original biblical design. Rather than treating the Church as a man-made institution shaped primarily by personalities, traditions, trends, or organizational ambition, this book points back to Scripture as the foundation for apostolic order and righteous governance.Drawing from the New Testament pattern of the Church, The Return to the Blueprint explores the purpose of spiritual authority, the function of the fivefold ministry, the necessity of accountability, the importance of holiness in leadership, and the relationship between biblical order and effective mission. It addresses what happens when authority becomes disconnected from responsibility, when titles replace function, when independence replaces accountability, and when institutional systems overshadow the mandate of Christ. This is not simply a critique of what has gone wrong. It is a practical and theological roadmap toward restoration.Readers will explore: The biblical foundations of apostolic order and church governanceThe proper purpose and limits of spiritual authorityThe function of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachersAccountability, discipline, succession, and responsible leadershipThe dangers of personality-driven and title-centered ministryThe relationship between holiness, order, unity, and missionPractical principles for restoring biblical structure in local churches and wider ecclesiastical bodiesA vision for preserving apostolic identity while carrying the Gospel into future generationsWritten for bishops, apostles, pastors, ministers, church leaders, seminarians, and serious students of Scripture, The Return to the Blueprint asks a challenging question: What would happen if the Church stopped reinventing itself and returned to the pattern Christ originally established? The future of the Church does not require abandoning its foundation. It requires returning to it.
Rather than treating the Church as a man-made institution shaped primarily by personalities, traditions, trends, or organizational ambition, this book points back to Scripture as the foundation for apostolic order and righteous governance.
Drawing from the New Testament pattern of the Church, The Return to the Blueprint explores the purpose of spiritual authority, the function of the fivefold ministry, the necessity of accountability, the importance of holiness in leadership, and the relationship between biblical order and effective mission. It addresses what happens when authority becomes disconnected from responsibility, when titles replace function, when independence replaces accountability, and when institutional systems overshadow the mandate of Christ.
This is not simply a critique of what has gone wrong. It is a practical and theological roadmap toward restoration.
Readers will explore:
- The biblical foundations of apostolic order and church governance
- The proper purpose and limits of spiritual authority
- The function of apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors, and teachers
- Accountability, discipline, succession, and responsible leadership
- The dangers of personality-driven and title-centered ministry
- The relationship between holiness, order, unity, and mission
- Practical principles for restoring biblical structure in local churches and wider ecclesiastical bodies
- A vision for preserving apostolic identity while carrying the Gospel into future generations
Written for bishops, apostles, pastors, ministers, church leaders, seminarians, and serious students of Scripture, The Return to the Blueprint asks a challenging question: What would happen if the Church stopped reinventing itself and returned to the pattern Christ originally established?
The future of the Church does not require abandoning its foundation.
It requires returning to it.
