Remember The Sabbath Day (Bible Studies)

"Remember the Sabbath Day" is a profound exploration of one of the Bible’s most enduring and meaningful commands. In an age of constant busyness, with endless to-do lists and unrelenting demands, the concept of Sabbath-a day set apart for rest, worship, and renewal-offers a sanctuary in time that can bring deep refreshment and joy. This book invites readers on a journey to rediscover the rich purpose behind the Sabbath commandment, illuminating how it can profoundly transform our lives, relationships, and connection with God.
Rooted in the Fourth Commandment, "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy" (Exodus 20:8), the Sabbath invites believers to follow a rhythm modelled by God Himself during the creation week. In "Remember the Sabbath Day", the reader is guided through the history, theology, and practical wisdom surrounding Sabbath observance, bringing both ancient insights and modern applications into focus. Exploring key biblical passages from Genesis to Deuteronomy and the Gospels, this book illustrates the unique role the Sabbath has played in shaping faith, family, and community. Readers will gain a deeper understanding of why this day was significant to the Israelites, how Jesus observed and elevated its purpose, and the ways early believers adapted Sabbath principles in their own communities.
Beyond historical and scriptural exploration, "Remember the Sabbath Day" dives into the Sabbath’s spiritual and social dimensions. The Sabbath is not simply a personal day off but a communal celebration of equality, where everyone, regardless of social status, can partake in rest and joy. The book examines how the Sabbath liberates us from our culture’s incessant drive for productivity, reminding us of the inherent value of stillness, reflection, and renewal. By reorienting our week around the Sabbath, we experience a shift in perspective-learning to trust in God’s provision and finding rest from self-reliance.
Readers will also discover practical guidance on preparing for the Sabbath and avoiding common distractions, allowing this day to become a true delight rather than a burden. From setting aside chores to setting spiritual intentions, each chapter encourages readers to reclaim the Sabbath as a time for meaningful worship, connection with loved ones, and personal renewal. With insights on how to create a restful environment and make space for gratitude and joy, the book provides a road-map for integrating Sabbath principles into modern life, even amid busy schedules.
Whether you are seeking spiritual enrichment, a new perspective on time, or simply a way to find peace in a hectic world, "Remember the Sabbath Day" will inspire you to cultivate a Sabbath practice that brings life and balance. This book is not just an invitation to keep a weekly day of rest but a call to embrace a way of life that honours our God-given need for rest, reverence, and renewal. Ideal for personal reading, group study, or anyone curious about the power of Sabbath, "Remember the Sabbath Day" offers timeless wisdom for those yearning to live with purpose, peace, and gratitude in a restless world.

Leslie Rendell has been studying the bible for most of his life. When he is researching a topic, the most important reference book is always the bible. There is no other authority for matters of what God expects from those He has created in His own image. If there is a conflict between the bible and man's thoughts, the bible will win every time.
Although he has had no formal bible education, he believes the average bible reader can understand the bible. Otherwise, how could they ever know what God's will is for their lives?
