A well-written cookbook by Alice S. Colombo, former Assistant Food Editor and columnist for The Courier-Journal - Louisville, Kentucky's award winning newspaper. Louisville recently was chosen by National Geographic Traveler Magazine as the number ONE food city in the WORLD. The dish that qualified Louisville for this award is the world-famous Hot Brown, the sandwich that has been served at The Brown Hotel since the first chef, Laurent Gennari created it in 1923 for the patrons who came to The Brown after dancing into the wee hours of the morning at the Madrid, a famous Twenties dance hall. It was changed a bit by the second chef, Fred Schmidt (1927 to 1930) and again by Mr. Harter, the third chef. All three recipes appear in this book (the only place you will find them) along with the one used by The Brown today.
