"Reflex Action, a Stdy" is a comprehensive investigation into the history and development of the reflex concept in physiological psychology. Written by Franklin Fearing, this work provides an in-depth analysis of the scientific evolution of the reflex, tracing its trajectory from early anatomical observations to its significance in modern behavioral theory.

The text explores the complex relationship between the nervous system and behavior, examining how researchers over centuries have interpreted the body's automatic responses to external stimuli. By reviewing the historical milestones of neurophysiology, the book offers a detailed look at the shift from mechanistic views to more integrated psychological perspectives. It highlights the pivotal experiments and intellectual debates that defined the field, making it a foundational resource for understanding the origins of modern biological psychology.

This scholarly study is particularly valuable for its focus on the intellectual history of science, providing readers with a thorough understanding of how the concept of the reflex action became a cornerstone of both medical and psychological inquiry. It remains a critical text for those studying the history of science, the philosophy of mind, and the physiological basis of human and animal action.
