Recent Trends in Intelligence Enabled Research: Proceedings of the 5th International Symposium on Signal and Image Processing, ISSIP 2024 (Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering, 1269)

This book gathers selected papers presented at the Fifth International Symposium on Signal and Image Processing (ISSIP 2024). It presents fascinating state-of-the-art research findings in signal and image processing. It includes conference papers covering many signal-processing applications involving filtering, encoding, classification, segmentation, clustering, feature extraction, denoising, watermarking, object recognition, reconstruction, and fractal analysis. It addresses various types of signals, such as image, video, speech, non-speech audio, handwritten text, geometric diagram, and ECG and EMG signals; MRI, PET, and CT scan images; THz signals; solar wind speed (SWS) signals; and photoplethysmography (PPG) signals, and demonstrates how new paradigms of intelligent computing, like quantum computing, can be applied to process and analyze signals precisely and effectively.

Dr. Siddhartha Bhattacharyya [FRSA, FIET (UK), FIEI, FIETE, LFOSI, SMIEEE, SMACM, SMAAIA, SMIETI is currently a Senior Researcher at VSB Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic. He is also serving as a Scientific Advisor at Algebra University, Zagreb, Croatia. He is an acclaimed author with over 400 publications, including 100 plus authored/edited volumes with reputed publishers. Bhattacharyya’s honors include receiving the South East Asian Regional Computing Confederation (SEARCC) International Digital Award ICT Educator of the Year (2017), the Distinguished HoD Award, and the Distinguished Professor Award conferred by the Computer Society of India, Mumbai Chapter (2017), ACM Distinguished Speaker (2018-2020), and IEEE Computer Society Distinguished Visitor (2021-2024). He was inducted into the ACM Hall of Fame in 2020 as a mark of appreciation for his contributions to hybrid computational intelligence and quantum computing research. His research interests include soft computing, pattern recognition, multimedia data processing, hybrid intelligence, and quantum computing.

Dr. Debabrata Samanta works as Program Head and Assistant Professor at the Department of Computing and Information Technologies, RIT Kosovo (A.U.K), Rochester Institute of Technology – RIT Global Campus, Kosovo, Europe. He obtained his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Durgapur, India, in SAR Image Processing. He is keenly interested in Interdisciplinary Research and development. He has experience spanning fields of SAR Image Analysis, Video surveillance, a Heuristic algorithm for Image Classification, Deep Learning Framework for Detection and Classification, Blockchain, Statistical Modelling, Wireless Adhoc Networks, and Natural Language Processing. He has completed six Consultancy Projects. Under his guidance, four students have accomplished their Ph.D. degrees. He received funding under the International Travel Support Scheme in 2019 for attending the conference in Thailand. He has received a Travel Grant to speak at conferences, seminars, etc. for two years from July 2019. He owns 22 Patents (4 Design Indian Patents and 2 Australian patents Granted, 16 Indian Patents published) and 2 copyrights. He has authored and co-authored over 245 research papers in an international journal (SCI/SCIE/ESCI/Scopus) and conferences including IEEE, Springer, and Elsevier Conference proceedings. He received “Scholastic Award” at the 2nd International Conference on Computer Science and IT Application, CSIT-2011, Delhi, India. He has presented various papers at international conferences and received Best Paper awards.  He is an IEEE Senior Member, an Associate Life Member of the Computer Society of India (CSI), and a Life Member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE).
