What if the beings waiting within us are more than symbols?
What begins as an exploration of past-life regression opens into a vivid inner world of ancient forests, forgotten coastlines, dragons, gods, wounded protectors and ancestral halls.
Guided through a series of extraordinary shamanic journeys, Seán Patrick Conroy is repeatedly asked to face what lies beneath his armour: grief, fear, anger, power and the protective identities formed through trauma.
A black horse teaches him the difference between surrender and possession. A three-headed dragon reveals the divided parts of the self. A patient turtle reduces sovereignty to its most difficult territory: oneself. And at the summit of a distant mountain, every form of armour he has ever worn must finally be laid down.
Moving between immersive visionary narrative and grounded psychological reflection, The Realm Within explores trauma, archetype, integration and the mystery of consciousness without demanding a single explanation for what occurred.
Were these encounters creations of the unconscious, spiritual realities, or something between the two?
Whatever their origin, they were real enough to change the man who entered them.
A visionary memoir for readers drawn to Jungian psychology, shamanic journeying and the difficult return to the self beneath the armour.
