Neuware - On the Isle of Man and Northern Ireland's north coast, ordinary roads become some of the most demanding racing circuits in the world. Real Roads, Real Risk: The Dangerous Glory of Motorcycle Road Racing tells the fact-based story of two legendary events: the Isle of Man TT and the North West 200. From the TT's first race in 1907 to the Mountain Course, from the North West 200's 1929 beginnings on the Portrush-Portstewart-Coleraine Triangle to the modern age of Superbikes, 200 mph speed traps, live timing, and global streaming, this book follows the riders, machines, families, marshals, medics, fans, and communities that made real-road racing unforgettable. It is a story of engineering progress, public roads, lap records, factory teams, privateers, sidecars, women competitors, the Dunlop dynasty, Grand Prix champions, safety debates, and the constant presence of danger. Written in a flowing narrative style and grounded in verifiable history, this book does not romanticise the cost of the sport. It faces it directly. For readers who want to understand why the TT and North West 200 continue to inspire devotion, argument, grief, and awe, this is the story of speed where the roads are real, the risk is real, and the glory can never be separated from the danger.
