A beautiful, matched set of six framed 8x10 Ansel Adams Yosemite photographic prints - two fully signed and four Initialed by Adams. Some History: These highly collectible prints were made by Ansel Adams' long-time laboratory assistant, Alan Ross, from the original negatives - as close as one can come to prints processed by Adams himself. These were purchased through Yosemite Valley's Best Studio by me in the early nineteen-seventies. Best Studio and the name Ansel Adams are legendary in the history of Yosemite Valley; the Studio was opened in 1906 by Harry Best, the future father-in-law of Ansel Adams who married daughter, Virginia. Adams first came to Yosemite in 1909. About These Prints: This is a very special collection of Ansel Adams prints for the following reasons: All were ordered through Best Studio in the early seventies; All images printed from the original Adams negatives by his long-time assistant, Alan Ross; All six of these prints are among the most iconic and famous Yosemite images in the Adams collection; All six are uniformly framed in white, metal "Weston museum frames"- unobtrusive, yet elegant (all prints were originally ordered as "museum framed prints," hence the uniformity); Two of these prints are extremely rare and valuable in that they are signed in full by Ansel Adams under the imag; The remaining four prints are initialed (AA) by Adams under the image making them also rare and desirable. In the years 1972 to 1974, Adams initially began to sign this series of Yosemite prints but quickly reverted to just initialing them for most of the two-year duration. These are, today, indeed scarce; The prints, mats, and frames are uniformly in very fine condition with but one slight exception: Tenaya Lake shows a few inches of very light frame-edge (edge only) abrasion on the lower right side, apparently due to wrapping the picture for long-term, careful storage. This can undoubtedly be made unnoticeable with the light application of a proper white touch-up coating. These framed prints are uniformly fine and attractive, ready to hang and adorn any living room, den, hallway, or office. This premium collection of Ansel Adams prints will undoubtedly continue to increase in value over the coming years as history has already proven over many decades .
