A Rare Geographical Work - With Six Maps of America, Published in PraguePublished on the eve of the Adams Onis Treaty, the work includes an excellent map of Louisiana Territory and the United States, and a map of th. Octavo. Contemporary calf binding, two leather spine labels, spine gilt. Nice early block printed endpapers. Several older defunct library stamps on title page and verso of maps. 19th-century military academy bookplate. Some foxing (mostly on text leaves), maps sheets and plates generally clean and nice. Withal, quite good. [2], 609, [1] pages plus 6 folding engraved maps (with outline color) and 6 engraved plates. Complete. A Rare Geographical Work - With Six Maps of America, Published in PraguePublished on the eve of the Adams Onis Treaty, the work includes an excellent map of Louisiana Territory and the United States, and a map of the West Coast of North America, from just south of Monterey, California to Kodiak Island (Russian Alaska), centered on Vancouver Island and the Inside Passage. The inclusion of the West Coast map coincides with the brief moment in time when the Russians, British, Spanish and Americans were all vying for control of the area between San Francisco and Alaska. The Adams Onis Treaty would reduce the Spanish claims to the area south of the modern California-Oregon border, while the Convention of 1818 between Britian and the United States would establish the area from the Columbia River to north of Vancouer Island as jointly controlled, pending further diplomatic negotiations. At the same time, the Russians were still active on the west coast, but significantly in decline. The Russo-American Treaty of 1824 limited Russian rights to the fur trade to the area north of latitude 54 40'N, with the US claiming rights to the south. The Treaty of Saint Petersburg in 1825 established the same rights as between Britian and Russia. The retirement of Alexandr Baranov in 1818 would further weaken Russian interests in the region, although the claims to Fort Ross (California) would last until 1841.The six views include one of the earliest printed views from California, showing one the Mission at Monterey.This is the Volume 17 (the American volume) of a rare 23-volume work published between 1807 and 1820. Para ejercer el derecho de desistimiento, complete de forma electrónica y envíe una declaración clara en nuestro sitio web, desde "Mis compras" en "Mi cuenta". Le enviaremos sin demora un acuse de recibo de dicho desistimiento a través de un soporte duradero (por ejemplo, por correo electrónico).

Efectos del desistimiento

We ship packages worldwide, using Federal Express, DHL, UPS and the US Postal Service (USPS). Orders received during before 3 p.m. Pacific Time on days when the gallery is open are typically shipped the same day. All other orders are typically shipped the next business day. When you order an item, you will receive an auto-generated confirmation email, confirming that your order has been processed by our email server. We will follow up with written confirmation that your order is in stock and has been shipped. Feel free to email or phone us if you have other questions.
While we make our best efforts to insure timely delivery of your packages, even the best courier services do not have perfect track records. Holidays and inclement weather can result in unforeseen delays. If you are purchasing an item for a gift or you otherwise have a specific deadline, please specify this information on your order form and use a shipping method that allows a safe time cushion for receipt of your order.
We have several shipping methods, depending upon the item. Maps are typically shipped either flat (encapsulated in Mylar and bound between multiple sheets of packing boards) or in custom thick core packing tubes. If you have a preference, please feel free to include this information when processing your order.
Shipping Insurance will be added to all items over $200.00. Insurance is typically billed at $0.05 per $100.00 (e.g., insurance for a $1000.00 map would be $5.00).
