Derya Uludüz MD, Professor

Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty, Member of the Neurology Department. Being an active member of the IHS since 2010, she also joined the Pediatric SIG in 2015. She is the national representative of European Headache Society and International Headache Society. She is the board member of International Headache Society. She is the co-editor of Peripheral Interventional Management in Headache book published by Springer. She is the Editor of Rare Causes of Stroke book published by Cambridge press. Her primary fields of interest are epidemiology of headache, comorbidity, headache database systems, and childhood and adolescent headaches.     

Mario Peres, MD, Prof

Mario F P Peres, MD, PhD, is the Founder of the São Paulo Headache Center and Program Director of Headache Medicine at Albert Einstein Hospital in São Paulo, Brazil, Professor of Postgraduation at the Psychiatry Institute, São Paulo State University Medical School. Born in São Paulo in 1971, had neurology residency training in 1998, PhD in Neurology in 2000 at Federal University of São Paulo, Headache Fellowship at Jefferson Headache Center, Thomas Jefferson University in 2000-2001.

Dr. Peres has authored and/or co-authored several peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and a book for patients with headaches. Google Scholar H-index of 55, >21000 citations. He has been dedicated to the headache field for the past 25 years, full-time, in clinical practice, academic training, public awareness, and research. Developed a headache medicine E-learning program for health professionals, a headache diary app, and internet content with more than 10 million individual page views in the past years.

He has served as a member of several committees at the International Headache Society and Brazilian Headache Society. He is currently the president of the IHS―Global Burden of Disease Collaborator.

Aynur Özge, MD, Professor

Professor of Neurology, Algology, and Clinical Neurophysiology at Mersin University School of Medicine in Turkey, an international lecturer, writer, and social worker on Alzheimer's and Headache Societies. She also works for NOROM (Neuroscience and Excellence Center, Ankara). Dr. Özge has authored and/or co-authored several peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and a book for patients with headaches. Google Scholar H-index of 40, >14000 citations. She has been a board member of the International Headache Society from 2019 to 2025. She has been working on the Paediatric Headache Special Interest Group of the IHS since 2004 and is currently serving on the Membership, Paediatric, and WIDE Committees. She has been an active board member of the MENA Headache Society since 2015. She is currently the founder and president of the Global Migraine and Pain Summit, working to integrate with IHS and other international societies to make headache science and awareness more available in the region. She has edited five international headache books and written several National and International chapters.  She conducts research and raises social awareness in various fields of neurology, with a particular focus on dementia and the clinical and epidemiological aspects of headaches.  

Marcelo Valença, Prof, MD

Professor Marcelo Valença is a Full Professor of Neurology and Neurosurgery at the Federal University of Pernambuco in Recife, Brazil. His professional focus is on Headache Medicine, particularly in secondary headaches. He holds the position of Editor-in-Chief at Headache Medicine, the scientific journal of the Brazilian Headache Society, and serves as the society's president. His engagement in headache research and management dates to 1991. Professor Valença graduated from the Federal University of Pernambuco in 1981. He completed his Ph.D. at the University of São Paulo. He participated in a fellowship in basic neuroendocrinology at the Laboratory of Integrative Neuroscience at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), USA, from 1983 to 1987 and in 1990. His postdoctoral training includes stints at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery in London in 1995 and at McGill University in Montreal in 2010. Throughout his career, he has published over 400 scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals and authored and co-authored several books and book chapters. Additionally, he has supervised over 80 Ph.D. and M.Sc. theses. His neurosurgery work has initiated an approach to understanding and treating headache disorders.
