The Quickening is the introductory look (book), a first glimpse into the Shards Of Infinity Universe (series).

Readers are asked to follow along through this tale of futuristic warfare, technology and adventure... with the understanding that the main characters are all inherently emotionally detached, deregulated and potentially unstable.

Follow, at your own risk, into the mind of an Elite Operative of the Colonial Armed Forces. Thayden is known to be calculating, methodical and a cold blooded killer.. even his own allies are terrified of him.

Trained to never show weakness and kill any threat.. Thayden and his fellow soldiers will succeed at any cost while coming face to face with their own darkest demons. The definitive culmination of a life devoted to a cause that has no means to an end.. only violence.

Awoken from hypersleep into an unfamiliar situation.. Quickly, it becomes apparent that the circumstances surrounding their release are increasingly questionable. Ignoring protocol, this motley crew of personalities from the past are reunited and tasked to seek out and eliminate a single target.

Amidst the orders and past rivalries... chaos and confusion unfolds... all in hopes to prevent a widespread rebellion.

It is up to the reader and the misfit characters to discover the intricacies of their connections and learn of their new place in the grand scheme of things.

Their teamwork, skills and chain of command will be weighed, measured and mettled. If they can keep from killing eachother... the ragtag team of Operatives may inadvertently begin to set in motion events that will have unthinkable consequences to the cosmos...

For Thayden, this journey has him torn between the expectations of his occupation, actions required for life/death situations and what little is left of his humanity...This is not the story of a hero.

Sometimes the wicked can only be devoured by an even greater evil.
