Ronnie Reyes knows the cost of that stability better than anyone. He stands on the lip of the Seam where wind doesn't blow, it vibrates, and feels every barge he lightens sink somewhere else. He is a king because he can hold weight, and a killer by proxy for the same reason.

The shadow without feet, which crossed a salt-flower in Book Seven and walked on air in Book Eight, now walks with purpose. It stands behind clerks in the treaty room.
