Paperback. The Prophet Who Lay on His Side is a short biblical reflection on one of the strangest and most solemn sign-acts in the book of Ezekiel. In Ezekiel 4, the prophet is commanded to portray Jerusalem on a clay tablet, act out its coming siege, lie on his side for many days, eat bread by weight, drink water by measure, and prepare his food in a way that signifies the defilement and humiliation of exile. This booklet approaches the passage with reverence and care, avoiding sensationalism while taking seriously the weight of God's warning. Ezekiel's actions were not empty drama. They were visible sermons, declaring the seriousness of covenant unfaithfulness, the certainty of judgment, and the mercy of God in warning His people before disaster fell. Through twelve short chapters, The Prophet Who Lay on His Side reflects on prophetic obedience, the siege of Jerusalem, the burden of iniquity, measured bread and water, the defilement of exile, and the danger of ignoring God's warnings. Yet the booklet does not end with Ezekiel's symbolic burden. It points beyond the prophet to Jesus Christ, the true and faithful Servant, who did not merely bear a sign of iniquity, but truly bore the sins of His people. Written in a sober, pastoral, and accessible style, this booklet invites readers to tremble at God's word, receive His warnings as mercy, turn from false confidence, and look to Christ, the only Saviour who cleanses the defiled and brings sinners home to God.
