Hailey Svarthold took her own life.

The reason as to why is unknown by her father, Henry, but he uses his immense skill and resources to awaken her in an illegal android body. Henry gives up everything to reverse her decision. Now she's left to continue a life she didn't want in the first place.

Simon, a Paladin of an Order that seeks to destroy Artificial Intelligence and illegal practices of the Arcane has been tasked with his first mission: locate the fugitive, Henry Svarthold, and bring him to justice.

Now, with the help of a select few still loyal to her family, Hailey contends with the problems of being a fugitive, while also trying to understand what her purpose is. How, and why, should she move forward? When all physical needs are met and vices are obsolete; what does it mean to be human?

While Hailey and Simon circle each other, passing like ships in the night, their paths lead them to Hailey's home world during a historic siege, and they uncover a conspiracy among the most powerful families in the Empire.
