Print on Demand. This book emerges from a transformative era in American education when manual training and practical skills were gaining prominence in school curricula. The author, recognizing this shift, presents a comprehensive guide for woodworking projects specifically tailored to the needs of agricultural communities and rural settings. The book goes beyond mere instruction; it delves into the philosophy behind this educational movement. It emphasizes the importance of accuracy, precision, and the development of problem-solving skills through hands-on work. The projects, ranging from simple tool carriers to complex chicken coops and seed corn testers, are designed to instill a sense of pride and accomplishment while fostering self-sufficiency and resourcefulness. With detailed instructions, illustrations, and bills of materials, the author empowers young men and women to engage in meaningful work, bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application. The book's insights into the value of manual training resonate even today, reminding us of the enduring importance of hands-on learning in an ever-evolving world. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

In many of these agricultural high schools, short courses are given during the four winter months for the benefit of those young men and women on the farm who have found it impossible to attend school thruout the year. To the young men in these classes, the practical work that can be given in the manual training courses appeals strongly. In many cases, boys become enough interested in work of this character to procure sets of tools for use in their own shops on the farm. With the understanding of the use of tools and of terms used in woodworking such as are learned in the manual training classes, and with the help of problems such as are offered in this book, these boys can work out many things by themselves and become proficient in this kind of work.
