Gathering fourteen lectures by the pioneers of securitization and by current practitioners, from Freddie Mac, Paine Webber, JP Morgan, Chrysler, McKinsey & Co, and other major players, A Primer on Securitization introduces readers to America's newest system of raising capital: what it is, how it operates, and what difference securitization makes. The securitization process bypasses financial intermediaries that have historically collected deposits and loaned them to those seeking funds, and links borrowers directly to money and capital markets. Although little has been written about what is perhaps one of the most important innovations to emerge in financial markets since the 1930s, securitization has revolutionized the way that the borrowing needs of consumers and businesses are met. Today, for example, over two-thirds of all home loans are being securitized, along with substantial percentages of auto loans and credit card receivables, and the process continues to expand into new fields including synthetic securities. Authoritative and practical, these lectures show how securitization was developed to fill a gap in financial markets. They discuss the nature and causes of the market imperfections that made securitization a valuable source of funds, and describe how securitization has linked local mortgage markets with international capital markets. Readers will gain a broad perspective of the different parties, the borrower, the loan originator, the servicer, the rating agency, the special purpose vehicle, the credit enhancer, the underwriter, and the investor, as well as a detailed analysis of how these parties relate to one another. From the inception of the secondary mortgage market through the collapse of the Granite funds, readers will learn not only about the success but also about the excesses and failures that typically accompany the development of any product in the real or financial sector.…

DOMESTIC SHIPPING:
We offer a choice of media mail (when applicable), first class, priority and/or expedited whenever possible. Choices for shipping methods vary and will appear at checkout (as well as additional opportunities to purchase insurance, extra insurance, etc.). All domestic orders include tracking.
INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING:
International shipping has become increasingly complex, but we do our best to keep up. If you have any questions regarding shipping to your country, feel free to reach out before you order. We will do our best to give you an exact quote.
All international orders include tracking and insurance. Expedited orders generally ship via USPS, DHL or Priority Mail International depending on the destination. Consolidated shipping is usually via Asendia or a similar, reliable carrier.
**VAT, Fees & Taxes: **
Where your country requires, and when under the value threshold set by your country, VAT is collected at checkout and remitted by the marketplace you ordered through. Any additional fees, duties, or taxes your country or carrier charges upon arrival are the buyer's responsibility (collected by your postal service or carrier when the package is delivered). The one exception is the European Union (see below).
The European Union:
As of 2026, the EU has added a new customs duty on every parcel entering the Union. Because of this, we are now required to prepay all duty and customs (DDP) before shipping, which is why you may notice that our EU rates run significantly higher than other countries. Additionally, on orders over 150 Euros, the full VAT tax due, over and above €150, is most often not collected by marketplaces at checkout. We may contact you through the marketplace you ordered to collect these additional VAT fees before shipping.
Typical speeds:
Although customs and overseas carrier delays sometimes happen and are outside of our control, the following should be a good guide (Business days only). If you need it faster, feel free to reach out. Sometimes we can achieve the “almost” impossible :)
Canada: Standard 10 to 21 days; Expedited, 6 to 12 days
United Kingdom: Standard 2 to 3 weeks; Expedited, 4 to 7 days by courier
European Union: 6 to 12 days by courier
Australia and New Zealand: Standard 2 to 4 weeks; Expedited, 6 to 12 days
Japan, Asia, and the Middle East: Standard 2 to 4 weeks; Expedited, 1 to 2 weeks
