Presumed first ed. (copyright 1893); 226 p., followed by 12 reviews of books listed in publisher's catalog, clean and unmarked on strong mildly age-toned paper. (Reviews include "'Reading as a Fine Art' by Ernest Legouve of the Academie Francaise"; "'The Art of Conversation' by J.P. Mahaffy Fellow of Trinity College, Dublin"; "'The Laws and Principles of Whist' Stated and Explained by Cavidish"; "'Oratory by Henry Ward Beecher'"; "'Parlor games for the Wise and Otherwise' by Helen E. Hollister; etc.). Former owner's name is wirtten in faint and very fine hand on front end page. Some rubbing along lower section of frontat gutter, but it is not cracked. In absence of d.j. the gray boards with red lettering and silver gilt ornamentation are quite soiled; the corners bumped and there is rubbing at crown and foot of spine panel. (Does not match picture shown.) This little gem (4-1/2" x 6") begs for rebinding.
