Critical practice in education is grounded in two bodies of thought and action: critical theory and critical pedagogy. Drawing on classical Marxism and its articulation of how oppression and injustice arose through capitalism¿s economic exploitation of labour, critical theories of society took a cultural turn in the writings of Adorno and Horkheimer, European Jewish refugees who fled to America, where they articulated how the power relations and oppressive forces of capitalism expressed themselves in the alienating symbolic forces of culture, music and art. When booming demographics and an economic surplus fuelled the student movement of the late 60s, and in to the 70s, in many Western nations, new forms of cultural Marxism were added to this body of critical theory, extending beside but also far beyond the classical Marxist preoccupations with economic equalities of social class. Critical pedagogy is a field of theory and practice which has the potential to inspire thoughtful, committed teachers to make real differences for their most vulnerable students and, by doing so, extending social justice far beyond their students and into the larger society.
This text is about being sensitive to, respecting and honouring differences among individuals and groups of individuals. The editors ask how one begins to connect the professional lives of educators with a Critical democratic practice for the pluralistic milieu of the twenty-first century. While the editors of this volume come from different educational disciplines - that is, literacy and educational administration - they share common philosophies, common educational practices and common educational goals premised upon a democratic Critical education. However different these vantage points may appear, they are both rooted in the desire for positive social change.
It is this critical component that continuously asks: Who benefits? In whose interests are changes being effected? What are the power differentials? Are there hidden agendas? Hidden curriculums? Null curriculums? The book aims to address these concerns, through lived experiences of those involved in creating positive change. Through an integrated framework of Critical literacy, Critical learning and Critical leadership, some of the more prevalent and pernicious problems of humanity can be identified, engaged and rectified. Through concrete examples, the editors promote the concept that every educator, including students, can become agents of change.

El periodo de desistimiento vencerá a los 14 días desde que usted, o un tercero que no sea el transportista e indicado por usted, adquiera la posesión física del último bien o del último lote o pieza.
Para ejercer el derecho de desistimiento, complete de forma electrónica y envíe una declaración clara en nuestro sitio web, desde "Mis compras" en "Mi cuenta". Le enviaremos sin demora un acuse de recibo de dicho desistimiento a través de un soporte duradero (por ejemplo, por correo electrónico).

Efectos del desistimiento
Si rescinde este contrato, le reembolsaremos todos los pagos que hayamos recibido de usted, incluidos los gastos de envío (excepto los gastos adicionales que surjan si elige un tipo de envío que no sea el tipo de envío estándar más económico que ofrecemos).

Excepciones al derecho de desistimiento
El derecho de desistimiento no se aplica a lo siguiente:
- La entrega de periódicos, diarios o revistas, con la excepción de los contratos de suscripción; y
- El suministro de contenido digital que no se proporcione en un soporte tangible (por ejemplo, en un CD o DVD) si, al hacer el pedido, aceptó que podíamos empezar a entregarlo y que no podría desistir una vez iniciada la entrega.
