Descripción del artículo del vendedor
Language: English. About The Book: Within this book, the author thoroughly explores the subject of "The Feasibility of an Invasion of British India." Furthermore, the author conducts an in-depth analysis of "The Economic and Financial Prospects and Assets of the Empire." In the extensive content of this work, there is a brief excerpt that provides insights into this topic. Specifically, the book examines the French Budget for the current year, revealing the significant expense associated with maintaining an army of nearly a specified number of troops, which could be likened to the figures presented in Russian statements, amounting to approximately 300,000 soldiers. This formidable force comes with a substantial cost of 190,000,000 francs, which is equivalent to around 8,000,000 pounds sterling. About The Author: Sir George de Lacy Evans GCB (1787–1870) was a British Army general with extensive service in the 19th century's major conflicts. Born in Moig, County Limerick, Ireland, he began his military career in the East India Company's forces in 1800 and later joined the British Army. He participated in the Peninsular War, War of 1812, and the Battle of New Orleans. During the Napoleonic Wars, he fought at Quatre Bras and Waterloo. Evans also wrote influential books on the potential Russian threat to India.
