Print on Demand. This book tells the life story of Saint Patrick, a humble shepherd boy, who was kidnapped at 16 and sold as a slave in Ireland. He escaped slavery and would go on to become a priest who brought Christianity to the country. This book uses the historical context, research, and archaeological evidence to correctly illustrate the religious landscape of Ireland before Saint Patrick arrived and the early years of Christianity there. The author discusses the significance of Saint Patrick and his legacy, exploring his role in the conversion of a pagan nation. The book is insightful, well-researched, and respectful in its portrayal of Saint Patrick and his mission, making it a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of Christianity, the life of saints, or the history of Ireland. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book.…

The object of the following little work is explained by the title. It is apopular life of our great saint, one in tended principally for the people and for the young gen eration of Irish Catholics. It does not pretend to deep research, - although I have consulted during its Pro gress all the authorities which were at my disposal, - it is simply an efi'ort to tell the storv of Ireland's conversion in a less tedious way than has generally been done. It has been oftentimes to me a subject of astonishment, as wall as of regret, that Irish children should, for so long a period, have been deprived of any authentic record, suited to their capacity, and written in a style calculated to interest them, of the wonderful deeds of the great ser vant of God to Whom our country is indebted for the precious gift of faith. The name of St. Patrick is, of course, familiar to their lips, it is inscribed on our na tional banners, sung in our hymns, toasted at our dinners, yet how little, after all, is known of him or of his achieve neuts, how little do we reflect upon his Virtues, or con ider the superhuman energy with which be accomplished his noble work. Every one has heard of St. Patrick, but who he was or what he did, or when he lived and how, is known to but a few.
